Ken Hoffman, President / Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Hoffman started his career with Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, one of the largest integrated steel mills in the U.S. After relocating to Atlanta, he joined the upstart – Transtar Metals Aerospace, a private equity roll-up of five of the largest aero/defense metals companies in the country first by JP Morgan/Chase and later by HIG Capital.

He has held numerous growth positions with Transtar, most recently as Division Vice President with responsibility for sales, operations, finance, and quality for the Western United States and Pacific Rim. This was the largest division in the rapidly growing company.  In this key role, Mr. Hoffman drove revenues from $40 million to more than $100 million in three years during the troubled post-9/11 aerospace market. He carried $100 million-plus profit-and-loss responsibility with over 200 direct and indirect reports. He led implementation and oversight of the quality system to ISO 9001/AS9100 standards.

Upon divestiture of Transtar by HIG Capital, he accepted a position as Vice President, reporting to the CEO of AM Castle, a $5-Billion metals distributor. There he led integration efforts of Transtar Metals Aerospace into the AM Castle platform via a successful $50-million-plus Oracle system development/implementation project.

During his career, he has negotiated and managed numerous multiyear, multimillion-dollar contracts.  As such his ties run deep with executives at many of the largest Tier 1 primes in the U.S. and abroad. Contracts managed include:

  • Aluminum armor on the BAE Bradley ($25MM+)
  • Aluminum extrusions for the Boeing C-17 ($15MM+)
  • Aluminum extrusions for the Lockheed Martin C-130 ($10MM+)
  • Aluminum plate for the F-35 Lightning/Joint Strike Fighter for Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, & BAE Systems ($40MM+)
  • Aluminum plate for the AIRBUS A380 ($30MM+)

Mr. Hoffman attended West Virginia University and Wheeling Jesuit University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Managerial Accounting/Finance in 1992, and his Master’s in Business Administration in 1997 both with honors.
